Local limits of uniform spanning trees

It was shown by Grimmett in 1980 that the local limit of the uniform spanning tree (UST) of the complete graph is the Poisson(1) Bienaymé-Galton-Watson tree conditioned to survive. This was recently extended to hold for USTs of any regular graph sequence with degrees going to infinity by Nachmias and Peres in 2022, and a multitype Poisson tree limit was obtained for non-regular dense graphs by Hladky, Nachmias, and Tran in 2018.
We will discuss recent progress extending these results to other regimes.
